Letter from the CEO: More Than a Bike Tour: How an Industry Is Leading the Way for Autism Employment

Every year, the MTS Logistics Annual Bike Tour reminds us that creating opportunities for autistic individuals is never the work of one organization alone. It takes businesses willing to invest, leaders willing to champion inclusion, and partners who understand that meaningful employment changes lives.

This year's 16th Annual MTS Logistics Bike Tour was another incredible success.

On a beautiful Saturday morning in New York City, hundreds of cyclists, corporate partners, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters came together with one shared purpose: creating employment opportunities for autistic young adults through Spectrum Works. Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of everyone involved, the event raised more than $100,000 to support our job readiness, internship, and employment programs.

While the miles ridden and the funds raised are certainly worth celebrating, what stands out most to me is what this event represents.

For more than 10 years, MTS Logistics has demonstrated what authentic corporate partnership looks like. Their commitment extends far beyond a single day of fundraising. Under the leadership of President Sedat Saka, MTS has continually used its platform to bring together customers, suppliers, competitors, and friends across the logistics industry in support of a cause that benefits our entire community.

That spirit of collaboration is what makes this event so unique.

Companies throughout the global supply chain, including Turkish Airlines, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), Hapag-Lloyd, Maersk, Bergen Logistics, Tricon International, Manuchar International Trade Services, Orient Star Transport International, Gepax Group, FM, and many others, continue to show that business leadership is about more than moving goods around the world. It is about investing in people and building stronger communities.

These organizations understand something we talk about often at Spectrum Works: inclusion is not just good for individuals. It is good for business.

The logistics industry has become one of our strongest partners because employers recognize the tremendous value autistic employees bring to the workplace. Attention to detail, consistency, reliability, and focus are qualities that help businesses succeed every day. When companies create environments where autistic individuals can thrive, they gain talented, dedicated employees while building stronger teams.

The MTS Bike Tour has become a powerful example of what is possible when an entire industry comes together around a shared mission. Businesses that may compete in the marketplace stand shoulder to shoulder in support of creating employment opportunities because they recognize that this is bigger than any one company.

That collective commitment sends an important message.
